Sheer Talent Ltd. hosts some of the dance industry’s premier international competitions, workshops and intensives. The 2016/2017 tour visits such cities as Monterrey, Mexico; New York, NY; Cincinnati, OH; Atlantic City, NJ; Lancaster, PA; Cancun, Mexico; Pittsburgh, PA; Great Falls, MT; Spokane, WA; Guadalajara, Mexico; Springfield, MA; Princeton, NJ; Denver, CO; Sacramento, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Buffalo, NY; Stamford, CT; Portsmouth, VA; Panama City, Panama; San José, Costa Rica; and Queretaro, Mexico; with national events in Las Vegas, NV, and Foxwoods, CT.
Alex Erikson, Sheer Talent’s director of marketing and PR, describes that each Sheer Talent event “strives to be diverse, family-friendly and professional, with dedicated and knowledgeable faculty, judges and personnel”. Additionally, the company is well-known for giving back through awarding cash prizes and scholarships to dancers.
With regional, national and title competitions and corresponding conventions, the company boasts some of the most sought-after teachers and judges in the industry — in all styles of dance. This year’s faculty roster includes Jamie Salmon, Jared Jenkins, Zach Saunders, Neil Schwartz, Aurelia Michael and many more.
Along with competitions and workshops, Sheer Talent also hosts an annual summer week-long International Ballet Intensive with a comprehensive curriculum that consists of men’s class, variations, partnering, improvisation, conditioning and lectures on career advice.
“The Sheer Talent International Ballet Intensive brings national and international students from diverse backgrounds together in a truly professional environment with a worldwide faculty, including current and former principal dancers and guest stars,” says Erikson. “The participants experience a six-day long intense course, conducted similar to a professional dance company’s rehearsals and performances.”
This year’s teaching roster includes Matthew Powell, Thomas Varvaro, Aubrey Lynch, Charmaine Hunter, Daniel Catanach and Amar Ramasar. For the first time, this summer’s intensives will take place both in New York City (June 26-July 1, 2017) and Las Vegas (July 10-15, 2017).
Erikson concludes, “Sheer Talent’s overall focus at every competition and workshop is to provide all dancers, parents and teachers with a complete educating, engaging and motivating experience.”
