Summertime for the competitive scene means nationals time. This is a time when you take the hard work and sweat from regionals and compete with companies from all over the world. Celebrity Dance has been taking its nationals to the next level by hosting them at sea. Nationals at Sea affords the chance for studios to travel in style aboard a beautiful ship equipped with enough entertainment and fun for everyone involved. This is just a subset of the amazing opportunities that dancers and their families will be able to enjoy while at sea. Drew Phillip talks to Dance Informa about the great experiences for dancers and their families during Nationals at Sea.
Phillip tells Dance Informa, “While Nationals at Sea has evolved over time, one thing has remained the same: there is nothing else like it. Onboard Nationals at Sea, amazing competition, high energy, master classes and unlimited fun await!”
Setting sail from California on the Carnival Imagination and traveling down the Coast of Baja, when dancers are not competing, they are invited to join in on all of the fun-filled activities that a cruise has to offer. Amenities such as shore excursions, recreation, shows, games, fun water parks and wonderful ports of call are just some of the great things for dancers and their families to enjoy while on board.
“Mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, grandparents and cousins put so much love and support into their dancer’s growth,” says Phillip. “They deserve some fun, too!”
Included in every Nationals at Sea experience is entrance into the Celebrity Competitions Theatre, Celebrity events and private parties, master classes and so much more. During competitions, dancers have the chance to compete against other dancers from around the world on the beautiful Carnival Mainstage in the Celebrity Theatre, which allows them to feel like celebrities in their own right. In addition to gracing the Celebrity Theatre stage, dancers will also have the opportunity to participate in master classes, which are taught by Celebrity staff and judges. As a bonus, these master classes are offered at no extra cost. In true Celebrity fashion, dancers are also invited to hang out with their favorite Celebrity judges and staff throughout Nationals at Sea. This gives the dancers and all others involved a chance to have some fun and party throughout the week.
“Whether poolside or in the dance club, you will have a blast,” Phillip assures.
A huge highlight during the week at sea is the world famous Deck Party. During this celebration, dancers and their families head up to the Lido Deck and party the night away with dancing, glow sticks, giveaways and an open bar for adults. This epic party creates a great environment for everyone to celebrate and make some great memories with fellow cruisers. Closing out Nationals at Sea is The Celebrity Show. This show is a performance put on by Celebrity judges, staff and crew, with a few standout routines from competition performing as well. With all of the amenities and opportunities that Celebrity has to offer during this action-packed week, it’s no wonder why it has drawn so much attention.
“Since Nationals at Sea is unlike anything else, we sell out very quickly,” Phillip explains. “Nationals at Sea 2018 is more than 75 percent sold out! Of course, we would love to see all dancers on board next summer, but when we sell out, stay tuned for future sailings, ports of calls and ships we may offer.”
Studio owners, teachers, dancers, family and friends are all invited to set sail with Celebrity and experience all the comforts Celebrity Nationals at Sea has to offer.
