Peridance Contemporary Dance Company has announced its upcoming online event titled Threshold on June 27. The company will present selected works from its previous Spring Season repertory. The filmed works will be showcased during the company’s live event, followed by a Q&A discussion with the artists on Zoom.
Many of us — and perhaps the dance world in particular — feel ourselves on the threshold of something new. Peridance hopes the two works in this program speak to the difficulty of this last year but also to the resilience and hope needed to sustain life on the threshold.
This past May, the company began online and in-studio rehearsals to remount two 2020 works for digital production and release. The first work, Twilight by Artistic Director Igal Perry, is set to music by Chopin; the second work, Just Above the Surface by guest choreographer Yin Yue, is set to music by contemporary composer Michael Banabila.
The company and its artists are delighted to resume activity after an extended pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They believe that online live events are critical now more than ever to sustaining the shared, thought-provoking experiences that weave together the fabric of our culture. The company looks forward to returning safely to live performances in its 2021-22 season and continuing to provide high-quality in-person engagement opportunities to the public.
This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
Peridance Contemporary Dance Company will present Threshold on Zoom on June 27, from 5-6pm EST. For more information, visit www.peridancecontemporary.org/threshold.
