World Dance Movement (WDM), the International Dance Festival, co-founded by Tony-nominated, world-renowned producer/director/choreographer and master teacher Michèle Assaf, launches the WDM Summer International Virtual Competition. The award ceremony will be broadcast live on August 27, 28 and 29. The deadline to register is July 25, and all videos will have to be submitted by August 1.
The virtual competition will provide dancers from around the world with the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of a stellar group of celebrity judges, including Brian Friedman, Assaf, Medhi Walerski, Igal Perry, Ashley Carter, Bill Goodson, Emily Bufferd, Phil LaDuca, Kat Wildish, Jeremy Duvall, Jessica Franco, Peter Oxford, Ginger Cox and Joshua Pelatzky.
Winners will be awarded prizes in cash and prestigious scholarships from Peridance Center, Sacred Heart University, Steps on Broadway, LA Dance Magic, Showcase Australia Dance Championships, The Space TV, Industry Xperience, I Coach Dance, Dancin’, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Tanec Bez Dance Hranic, Abruzzo on Stage, Forster Physical Therapy, Accademia Kataklò, LaDuca Dance Shoes, WDM and others.
The competition is open to dancers all over the world, and videos will be accepted from any concert or competition up to 18 months old or filmed in a studio or home setting. Dance films are also accepted. All pieces will be judged with vocal feedback for the participants to hear.
Participants are offered a unique opportunity to receive constructive criticism by an incredible group of international world-renowned artists from the comfort of their home and dance studio. The spring event, Fantastic WDM Competition was a huge success with over 700 dancers from 34 countries.
